How long does driveway install take?
A standard residential concrete driveway is 1 to 2 days for demolition and pour, then 7 days of cure before driving on it. Asphalt is 1 day for demolition and lay, then 2 to 3 days of cure. Long driveways scale proportionally. Aggregate driveways are typically completed in a single day plus settling time.
Will a new driveway crack?
A properly installed concrete driveway with control joints cut at correct spacing, reinforcement placed, and a quality compacted base will show minimal cracking, mostly cosmetic if any. Cheap installs that skip joints, reinforcement, or proper base preparation develop visible cracks within 2 to 3 years. The work hidden under the surface is what determines crack performance, not the visible concrete itself.
Can you install a driveway over an existing one?
Asphalt overlay over existing asphalt is possible if the existing base is sound and the existing surface has not failed structurally. Concrete cannot be overlaid; the existing surface must be demolished and replaced. We assess the existing condition during the site walk and recommend overlay or full replacement based on what we find.
